Foster Home Caseworker
HopeTree Family Services has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Foster Home Caseworker in our Foster Care Program in Chester VA. This position is responsible for providing casework services to children placed in treatment foster care homes and their certified foster families, completing monitoring visits and contacts in the foster home, providing training, support and guidance to certified foster parents, preparing and maintaining foster home records in accordance with licensure standards and conducting home studies. The hours of this position will be M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm or may vary based on the needs of foster families and children placed in the home.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education or counseling with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience providing casework services to children and families; OR a bachelor's degree in any field plus two years' experience in providing casework services to children and families. He/she must demonstrate the emotional maturity and ability to deal effectively with social, psychological and emotional problems of children in foster home settings. Must demonstrate the leadership, knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out program goals and objectives. Knowledge of family systems, community resources, adolescent behaviors and mental health issues. Must possess necessary skills and abilities to make appropriate independent decisions and work in a team environment. He/she must demonstrate the ability to represent the Agency in the community in a positive manner. Knowledge of Virginia Baptist denominational life is helpful.
