Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS), which provides community-based services for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or developmental disabilities, as well as services for older citizens, is seeking a dynamic, highly qualified professional to serve as its Executive Director. RRCS serves five rural - emerging urban localities in central Virginia within one hour of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the nation's capital and the University of Virginia. The Executive Director is directly accountable and responsible to the RRCS Board of Directors and provides overall leadership and professional direction of its behavioral health, developmental disability, substance use disorder, and aging services and all administrative operations. The Executive Director is employed under an annually renewable contract with a 15 member Board of Directors and is evaluated annually by the Board. The Executive Director will be responsible for all aspects of managing 350 staff throughout Counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock in the Commonwealth of Virginia with an annual budget of $25 million plus.
An applicant must have an undergraduate degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or another human services-related field or in business, public, hospital, or healthcare administration or another management-related field is required and comparable related experience may substitute for education. Applicant must have at least 6 years of experience leading a unit or function in public or private organizations with responsibilities that are similar or comparable to RRCS. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of human services and health services administration, business administration, or government program administration, human resources management, information technology, and financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, monitoring, and auditing is required. Some knowledge of behavioral health, developmental disability, substance use disorder, and/or aging programs and services delivery is required.
The preferred candidate will have a graduate degree in one of the fields listed above; at least 10 years of experience leading public or private organizations with functions and responsibilities that are similar or comparable to RRCS and reporting directly to a governing board; as well as considerable knowledge of behavioral health, developmental disability, substance use disorder and/or aging programs and services delivery and ability to provide clinical or programmatic oversight of these services.
