The Chesterfield County Department of Mental Health Support Services is the single point of entry for public mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorder services in Chesterfield County. The department is hiring a Full-Time Reimbursement Specialist that will be committed to providing medical billing, insurance verification and payment collection for medical and behavioral health.
What You Do and How You Do it:
This position is responsible for first/third party billing utilizing patient electronic health record system to ensure claims are billed in a timely and accurate manner for maximum reimbursement. It involves adjudicating claims, follow-up reviews, processing/tracking of claim submissions, downloading and processing remittances (e835), and resolving rejections. Also, responsible for cashiering, obtaining customer financial information, making necessary customer account adjustments, following-up with insurance companies and patients to ensure all accounts are paid in a timely manner and collaborating with co-workers and medical office personnel. Will perform a wide variety of duties to provide the efficient and effective management of accounts receivable. Perform other work as required.
Here's what you need:
Associate's degree in business/finance required; medical billing preferred; two years or experience in processing electronic medical claims (three years preferred), preferably in Behavioral Health; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The following is also required:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Familiarity with medical billing codes, Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial insurance carriers.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
