The Applied Anthropology laboratories is accepting applications for multiple
On-call Temporary Archaeological Crew Chiefs. These Crew Chiefs will work for the department on a project-by-project basis. We have projects pending for imminent fieldwork. Join a team of experts as we Learn, Work, and Discover!

Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.
Position Function
Perform Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 archaeological surveys and related laboratory analysis as assigned by Director. Supervise archaeological fieldwork under the direction of Principal Investigator.
Minimum Education
Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field with relevant training in Anthropology and/or Archaeology or equivalent experience. Training in laboratory analysis of prehistoric cultural materials.
Minimum Experience
At least one year full-time experience in Midwestern archaeology, and one year of supervisory experience in Cultural Resource Management or under similar working conditions.
Minimum Other
This position requires someone eligible to serves as a Field Supervisor in Indiana. While a Master's degree is nominally required by the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA), people without the required degree have been viewed by DHPA staff as having experience sufficient to fulfill the roles set aside for Field Supervisors. If you do not have the required education, but can document that you have experience serving in the role of a Field Supervisor in Indiana (e.g., submit sole authored reports to DHPA), please submit documentation that your are considered eligible as a Field Supervisor by DHPA. Such experience and evidence of serving as a Field Supervisor may be substituted for the Education requirements for this position.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
