Job Description:

Brightpoint Community College is seeking to fill a nine-month full-time teaching faculty position available for the Fall 2023 semester in theatre and communication studies. The selected candidate will teach primarily introductory communications and theatre courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats. Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester, student advising, course evaluation and development, serving on division and college committees, and the ability to attend and represent Brightpoint Community College at community events and professional meetings and conferences. Teaching assignments may be at both campuses to include a mix of day, night, and/or online classes.
KSA’s/Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree in theatre or communication studies, or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university with necessary graduate credit hours to teach both communications studies and theatre courses. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and strong communication skills required. The successful candidate must be willing to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classes with the ability to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations, and have proven experience with online teaching formats and instructional technology. Willingness to adopt and teach new and emerging technologies and commitment to meeting the needs of and providing instruction to diverse populations. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, distance-learning and/or course development. A sound understanding of the subject matter. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Related education beyond Master’s; postsecondary teaching experience, especially in two-year colleges; related experience or education in a wide range of theatre courses, including Stage Combat/Movement, Voice and Diction, Film, and Directing; professional and academic directing credits; postsecondary program leadership.
