Mechanic - Municipal Garage, City of Middletown, Ohio

The City of Middletown is accepting applications for the position of Mechanic.  

Salary Range:  $23.40 - $31.31 hourly plus benefits.

This is skilled mechanical work in the preventive maintenance and repair of city-owned vehicles and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Garage Superintendent. Normal hours of work are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED with experience in repairing gas and diesel motors and equipment units, buses, vehicles, and apparatus.  

Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Ohio Driver’s License or a valid Ohio Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proper endorsements (passenger bus with no-passenger restriction; combination vehicle and air brakes).  Possession of a CDL is not a requirement to obtain this position but CDL must be obtained within 6 months of hire date (CDL training provided by the City and one test paid for by the City). EPA 608/609 Certification regarding the handling of Freon required within 6 months of hire date.
