Chesterfield County's Utilities Department is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to apply a comprehensive knowledge of biological processes (i.e. nitrification/denitrification), chemical processes (i.e. flocculation/phosphorus removal), and biosolids process for enhancing treatment performance; interprets analytical laboratory data to monitor plant process performance; analyze applicable environmental regulations, develops and implements programs consistent with county environmental management program goals. Perform other work as required. Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Engineering with five years of experience in wastewater treatment process control, environmental management programs and regulatory compliance programs; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Three years supervisory experience; demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; goal oriented with the ability to work with a wide diversity of personnel. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within 30 days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
