Chesterfield County's Information Systems Technology Department is seeking a Telecommunications Senior Specialist to perform complex vector implementations and changes, engineer voice traffic flow, recommend intelligent call routing, analyze and troubleshoot telecommunications issues to resolve outages in a timely manner and minimize impact to county departments. Duties include the following: Provisioning, support and management of Avaya Aura SIP telephone system, resulting in a consistent and organized process saving time and money. Providing support and management of Avaya remote sites behind Corporate CM 8 system. Responsible for distribution, management and support for all county issued cell phones, including management of plans and billing and County issued cable boxes and accounts. Implements Call Server Patches and Upgrades, Firmware upgrades for circuit cards and VoIP stations. Responsible for coordination and integration of all support vendors. Provisioning, support and management of: Avaya S8300 Call servers, G650 and G450 gateways; Session and System Manager server platforms and functions; Avaya AAM, Avaya SBCE, Avaya CES Audio Management; Avaya CES Workplace, including user support of workplace application and Avaya IPO systems; Avaya CMS; compatible analog, digital, VoIP and SIP endpoints.

Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in telecommunications or related field and five (5) years of experience in the telecommunications industry; or a high school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Understanding of the telecommunications industry with detailed knowledge of Avaya Media Servers, PRI Trunking, SIP Trunking, Centrex, Unix OS, Modular Messaging, E911, VeraSmart, Comdial systems, CentreVu CMS, and the ability to program the software and make system changes and manage large scale projects. Experience with and the ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio are also required.
A current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/ degree verification required. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
