Chesterfield County's Mental Health Support Services Department is seeking Van Drivers to conduct transportation support services with a floating work schedule between 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Transport individuals with intellectual disabilities to and from work sites. Assist non-ambulatory passengers in loading and unloading utilizing a wheelchair lift. Assist non-ambulatory passengers in manipulating their wheelchairs and securing them with belts. Follow regularly assigned routes and schedules, immediately reporting delays to dispatch. Comply with all state and county rules and laws, and adhere to Chesterfield Employment Services' (CES) Van Driver rules. Maintain a current Virginia Driver's License. Contact appropriate emergency (police, hospital, tow truck, and CES office) in cases of accident or breakdown. Keep Transportation Supervisor apprised of vehicle's condition. Inform Customer Service Technician/Dispatcher of no-shows of any consumers on the scheduled route. Responsible for daily vehicle maintenance; check fluids levels (oil, transmission fluid, windshield washer fluid, and gas); and tires (excessive wear and proper air pressure). Maintain accurate vehicle mileage sheet. Perform other work as required.

Successful candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED; one year of experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience using Microsoft Office; Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook. Experience working with individual with intellectual disabilities preferred. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
