Voice Technician (part-time)

Information Systems Technology

Hiring Range: $28.58 - $38.57

Chesterfield County’s Information Systems Technology Department  is seeking a Voice Technician to manage Voice Services service request tickets. Other duties include:

  • Administration and maintain and support Comcast Cable TV service, Overhead paging.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots telecommunication equipment. 
  • Installing, terminal and patch cables. 
  • Installing VoIP telephones.
  • Assists with verifying services by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
  • Exhibit polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail
  • Provide administrative, operational, and logistical support
  • Answers phone calls, schedules meetings and escort unbadged vendors.
  • Provide Mobile Admin support.
  • Respond to day-to-day requests from the customer, Ticket queue monitoring.
  • Provide support to IST Voice Services Team, as a liaison between departments.
  • Submit purchase order requests, track, and manage team budget and various reports, and submit expense reports.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing, and expediting orders for supplies.
  • Organize and handle team shipping logistics.
  • Perform other work as required

Successful candidate will possess a h
igh School Diploma or GED required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Excellent attendance and demonstrated history of being on time.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, to prioritize and multitask. 
  • Knowledge of current telecommunication industry technology and operations.
  • Basic knowledge of Avaya Communication System administration.
  • Experience working in current Avaya Aura solutions preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt and willingness to learn new things.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with members of the team and customer staff.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy” and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.   Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years.
