General Statement of Duties

Plans and supervises professional engineering work of all public works projects, including road construction and maintenance, construction, inspection, design engineering, traffic engineering, drainage and transportation; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as related to the preparation of plans and specifications for a wide variety of public works projects; extensive knowledge of land and engineering survey systems, methods and techniques; extensive knowledge of construction materials and of approved standards of safety as related to structural designs and specifications; extensive knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering; ability to instruct subordinate engineering personnel in proper work methods and to direct their work effectively; ability to adapt approved engineering methods and standards to the design and construction of a variety of public works projects; good professional judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and eight (8) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, five (5) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Valid driver's license to perform assigned duties at various locations Countywide.
