Executive Director
Crossroads Community Services Board (CCSB) is seeking a dynamic, highly qualified professional to serve as its Executive Director. CCSB is headquartered in beautiful Farmville, Virginia, on the Appomattox River and just 65 minutes west of the capital city of Richmond. Farmville is an easy day trip to Richmond, Lynchburg, or North Carolina.
The CCSB was organized in 1973 and serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance use disorder services in 26 locations for Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward Counties (2,761 sq. miles in rural Central Virginia). The CCSB’s operating budget is over $15 million, and it employs 280+ full and part time staff. The CCSB’s 14-member board of directors are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and includes elected officials, individuals receiving services, and family and community members.
The CCSB Executive Director leads a seven-member management team to deliver quality programs and services to residents spread across seven counties. The Executive Director is directly accountable and responsible to the CCSB’s board of directors and provides overall leadership and professional direction to its direct and contractual mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance use disorder services and administrative operations. This includes program and service delivery management and supervision; strategic and long-range planning; budgeting and financial management including grant administration and fundraising; contract management; program and service evaluation; human resource management; facilities maintenance and operation; management information system operations; compliance with licensing, human rights, and other state or federal statutes, regulations and policies; quality improvement; risk management; implementation of policies adopted by the CSB; support and assistance to the CSB's board of directors and its committees; and liaison with state and local governments, local consumer and family member groups, and other advocacy groups.
This position requires an undergraduate degree in social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or another human services-related field, or in business, public, hospital or healthcare administration or another management-related field; a graduate degree in one of these fields is preferred. Candidate should also have extensive experience in a similar position or in a senior leadership role. Best experience in providing behavioral health care, developmental or substance use disorder services is required with administrative and supervisory experience preferred. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration, public relations and marketing, government program administration, or human services administration, and the ability to provide clinical and programmatic oversight is also preferred. Finally, the candidate should have In-depth knowledge of financial practices and financial management, be highly organized, and possess exceptional interpersonal skills.
