The Vice President of Manufacturing will be a People Leader, with a key focus on driving sustainable change within our business.  The Vice President of Manufacturing will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee Manufacturing, Quality, Distribution and Logistics activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. This role will have the direct responsibility for managing multiple manufacturing centers and teams. The successful candidate will understand sophisticated manufacturing processes, manufacturing excellence concepts, quality control programs and how to drive ongoing continuous improvement and productivity gains. The VP of Manufacturing must be an influential leader who will coach, mentor, train and elevate the Manufacturing leadership group as well as all team members while keeping safety and quality a top priority. Building teams and a collaborative culture is a critical element of this position. The Vice President of Manufacturing will Report Directly to the COO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and execute strategic initiatives related to manufacturing, sales operations, customer service, distribution, and logistics across the company
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while providing expertise and guidance on operational projects and systems.
  • Establish long-term Manufacturing objectives that are aligned with business goals and manufacturing excellence principles.
  • Oversee manufacturing annual spend, 3PL spend and Procurement spend.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Cultivation, Procurement, People & Culture, Innovation, Finance and Engineering partners to achieve performance objectives and strategic goals for the business
  • Work with stakeholders to determine procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements
  • Collaborate with Engineering in the development of specifications for new products, processes and Capex Requirements.
  • Direct and develop a safety & quality culture that engages all employees in the initiative of zero incidents.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans including capacity plans for all manufacturing operations
  • Create and secure approval for all operational and capital budgets
  • Continuously develop, execute, and monitor quality and delivery standards to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Provide strong leadership to direct reports on the manufacturing leadership team
  • Oversee all warehousing, inventory control, and logistical functions at plants
  • Continually evaluate new materials and processes to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity
  • Effectively manage working capital and capital expenditure projects
  • Drive quality performance, efficiencies, and waste reduction through Manufacturing Excellence principles and continuous Improvement.
  • Manage financial plans and goals to align with the activities and objectives of the company’s overall business plan for growth.
  • Positively communicate and demonstrate the company's values by developing trust and respect among peers and staff, building strong teams and creative partnerships across the business.
  • Identify business challenges and opportunities and incorporate strategies to improve efficiencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                       

This position is accountable for the management of others, through a subordinate supervisor, including selection, recommending termination, performance appraisal, and professional development.

Education and Experience:                                          

Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS) in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or similar major or four (4) years of equivalent job-related experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Operations or Manufacturing with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Excellent capital and project management skills
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement Methodology, Manufacturing Excellence a preferred skillset
  • Thinks and acts strategically, creating a vision for the future and plan to get there.
  • Works well with others, functionally and cross-functionally, creating an environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
  • Is a change-agent willing to challenge the status-quo to make things better
