General Manager Operations
Northfield Medical Manufacturing has an immediate opening for a General Manager to lead our Custom Healthcare Systems (CHS) operation in Richmond, Virginia. We are looking for an experienced and action-oriented team leader who can execute on our strategic growth plan and build a winning culture for our employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business including production, compliance, shipping, business development, customer service, inventory management, billing and collections.
CHS manufactures custom medical procedure trays at our facility in Henrico, Virginia. Our customers include medical distributors and suppliers, hospital systems, educational institutions and surgery centers. As an FDA-registered manufacturer of Class II devices, CHS produces sterilized procedure trays based on the specifications required by our customers. CHS has an energetic team of dedicated employees (many with us for over 10 years) who are excited about delivering exceptional products to our customers. Our 45,000 square foot facility includes a warehouse, production room and newly renovated administrative office space.
CHS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northfield Medical Manufacturing, a Norfolk, Virginia based provider of workplace safety and infection control products. Northfield’s customers include medical distributors, retail and restaurant chains and nationally-branded manufacturing partners. We hope to identify a strong candidate who can partner with the Northfield senior team to achieve our objectives.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include leading the business and production operations of CHS and ongoing reporting to the owners/senior management team at Northfield. The CHS General Manager is the senior business leader and responsible for culture, growth and operating excellence. Your direct reports will include the team leaders of Production & Warehouse, Production Planning & Purchasing, Sales, Accounting and Customer Service. Human Resource support is provided by Northfield’s HR Manager. Other duties include but are not limited to:
· Manage operations using our established Key Performance Metrics
· Lead weekly management team meeting
· Maintain ongoing communication and reporting to Northfield senior managers
· Eventual mastery of our production and inventory software system (FileMaker)
· Manage overall financial performance
· Work with our external FDA consultants to ensure overall compliance
· Manage relationships with vendors, partners and key customers
· Provide support as requested to our network of Independent Sales Reps
· Manage customer backlog report to ensure orders are fulfilled on a timely basis
· Manage raw component and finished goods inventory levels
· Evaluate current customer pricing on an ongoing basis
· Work with Accounting Manager to manage customer receivable accounts and invoicing
DEMONSTRATED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Leading diverse teams across multiple functional areas
· Training and developing employees
· Managing assembly or light manufacturing process
· Managing vendors and high volume purchasing
· Responsibility for Profit and Loss reporting
· Direct or indirect responsibility for customer relationship management and sales growth
· Annual financial and capital budgeting and forecasting
· Healthcare industry experience (strongly preferred but not required)
SUCCESS FACTORS:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Comfort level with data, reporting and metrics
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Productivity Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
