DGS's Bureau of Facilities Management (BFM) is a customer-focused organization whose primary function is to provide a quality environment for the approximately 75 state agencies that occupy the facilities overseen by DGS, which includes over 40 buildings and about 6.45 million square feet of buildings and grounds at the seat of government. BFM strives to ensure tenants enjoy a clean, safe, efficient, and comfortable environment in and around the buildings it manages.
JOB OPPORTUNITY
Want to be a part of our dedicated housekeeping team that maintains the new General Assembly Building located on the Capitol Complex? We are seeking two seasoned professional Housekeeping Supervisors who are committed to ensuring a clean, safe, efficient, and comfortable environment in and around the buildings being managed. Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, this position will supervise all housekeeping, set up and breakdown for special events, and provide furniture movement for the General Assembly Building. This is an evening-shift position; the hours of work are 3: 45 PM to 11:45 PM including some holidays and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications include:
• Considerable knowledge and experience of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, equipment and chemicals for a wide variety of surfaces.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of a multi-shift housekeeping staff for both comprehensive housekeeping and special events.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, apply, and interpret policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of safety practices in the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Working skills in the operation of power cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums.
• Experience in stripping, waxing floors and shampooing carpets.
• Skilled in use of computers including e-mail, Microsoft Word & Excel.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to identify conflict and resolve issues judiciously.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others.
• Ability to manage time effectively and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Virginia driver's license.
