Our History in Education

Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Community School is located 25 miles south of Bloomfield, NM on the east side of Highway 550. The school was built in 1968 as a (BIA) Bureau of Indian Affair operation, but in 2005 it converted to a grant school. Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Community School is a FACE - 8th Grade school. The school is located in New Mexico on the eastern part of the Navajo Reservation near Huerfano Mountain, which is also one of the sacred mountains to the Navajo people. The schools serves several chapters and communities.

Each year Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Community School enrolls between 150-180 students who are predominantly Navajo. The schools population comes from the surrounding chapters; Huerfano, Nageezi, Counselor, Nenahnezad and Shiprock. Most of the students enrolled at Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Community School are from the area and their parents have been most interation with the school. Parents serve on the (PAC) Parent Advisory Committee to support the school and they also participate in school function.

Many of the students reside in the Residential Dormitory along with Bloomfield High School Students. Within the Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle areas there is the school, staff housing, NHA housing, (IHS) Indian Health Services, a church, a Sheriff's Station and a Fire Station.
