East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Instructional Designer! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Instructional Designer, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable providing instructional design consultations with faculty. You will be an active member of the Tech team and will work closely with the faculty to Collaborate with Faculty on how to best integrate technology into their courses. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your teaching and design experience. To be successful in this position you will need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Typically, 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday and as business needs demand. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Instructional Designer. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
  • Provide instructional design consultations with faculty.
  • Research various technologies and provide tutorials on their usage.
  • Collaborate with Faculty on how to best integrate technology into their courses.
  • Provide D2L support as well as other technologies including Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor, TurnItIn, Turning Technologies and Zoom.
  • Work with textbook publishers to gather various supplemental content to integrate into D2L (ex.
  • Test banks, PowerPoints, practice, etc).
  • Participate in other instructional design initiatives such as assisting in the creation of online courses and in the implementation of open educational resources in support of the use of free e-textbooks.
  • Direct effective and responsive technical support services for students who are in online courses and programs.
  • Coordinate and conduct faculty training in online teaching methods and practices.
  • Support faculty who teaches at a distance with problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • With the assistance of the appropriate department, provide content management for the distance education website.
  • Performs related work as required.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Education Technology and one or more years of experience as an instructional designer working in higher education.
  • Preferred master's degree in a relevant field -- preferably in Instructional Design
  • Working knowledge of LMS Systems, preferably Brightspace's Desire2Learn (D2L).
  • Working knowledge of learning and instructional design theories and adult theory.
  • Working knowledge of ADDIE Model, Backward Design, educational design, and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of Fair Use and copyright issues that apply to online course delivery.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement instructional multimedia products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English: able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
