Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Mobile Clinics Operations Manager to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:
  • Directly supervises and manages the schedule for Fleet Drivers/ Paramedics, EMTs, and OPS/Temporary Drivers. Conducts training and orientation for all new drivers, paramedics, EMTs, and OPS Drivers. Trains staff in afterhours MHC incident response.
  • Acts independent of the Program Director; performs clinical functions and manages the daily clinical operations of MHC(s) as needed in his/her absence. Coordinates and assists in the patient flow, triage, immunizations, medical procedures, patient education in lieu or absence of nurse specialist. Documents all procedures in Electronic Medical Records. Assists in auditing of patient records. Ensures staff compliance with university policies, FIU- NHELP policies, departmental policies, managed care organizations, and regulatory and other agencies and entities governing health care delivery.
  • Manages the inventory of medical supplies, laboratory supplies, and all related equipment and support for all Mobile Health Centers. Coordinates and oversees the vaccine inventory for the Primary Care Mobile Clinics, including temperature control equipment, policies, procedures, and stock inventory. Maintains a medical and office supply list with quantities and item numbers. Coordinates the purchasing of supplies, repairs, and mobile upgrades with the proper leadership team.
  • Reviews and signs off on all Mobile Health Center vehicle and safety logs including mileage, generator hours, septic services, cleaning services, AED, eyewash, etc.in a timely manner. Coordinates with staff to correct any missing information and upload into shared drive monthly for review by leadership.
  • Works with administrative leadership to assist with coordinating the departments' Continuity of Operations Plan COOP Emergency Preparedness Plan with annual updates. Coordinates safety training and procedures with NeighborhoodHELP Safety Officers, FIU Police Dispatch, and Environmental Health and Safety department.
  • Complies and enforces universal precautions for the proper use of personal protective equipment and the proper handling of biohazardous waste.
  • Participates and/or coordinates staff to attend household visits with medical providers for special cases.
  • Develops programs and procedures for: preventive maintenance, security, service, daily operation of mobile clinics and emergency response. Creates and maintains programs and procedures for driver/ paramedics operating the Mobile Clinics.
  • Manages the maintenance and service for all Mobile Clinics, specialized Vehicles and Equipment. Solves IT and A/V related issues and coordinates needed repairs with College of Medicine IT department and or UTS. Conducts monthly and quarterly audits of fleet maintenance and service records. Ensures that all proper documentation is maintained and liaises with van component manufactures to confirm all valid warranties are fulfilled. Assists with grant funding reporting as it relates to the Mobile Health Center repairs.
  • Collaborates and maintains relationships with departments within FIU as well as outside vendors to coordinate and manage maintenance and repairs of the Mobile Health Centers. Assists or coordinates Mobile Health Center delivery/pick-up to and from outside vendors. Obtains repair, service, and upgrade estimates from vendors and service providers. Monitors maintenance, hours, and service expenditures of all vehicles. Constantly seeks out cost saving measures and upgrades for Mobile Clinic operations.
  • Assists Leadership with Recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing the Clinical support staff including but not limited to paramedics, EMTs, and medical assistants for the NHELP Mobile Health Centers. Prepares employee work schedule to ensure adequate staffing levels. Monitors employee productivity and serves as back-up to staff as necessary. Provides coverage as needed.
  • Implementation and ongoing management of the Mobile Health Center use and logistics for events, requests, fairs, natural and man-made disasters, emergencies, and daily operations.
  • Responds to and assists in treatment of patients with emergency and nonemergency needs per Mobile Health Center (MHC) policies and procedures. Provides direct paramedical and comprehensive patient care as required in each individual case. Provides response and management of any regular or after hour's incidents, accidents, or emergencies. Completes and transfers patient care information and records as per established procedures.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification from a department administrator.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Monitors service quality, management of patient flow and process improvement, continuously evaluating the quality service provided and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures staff participation in required education programs and appropriate orientation and training courses to maintain competency and any required certifications in job skills, knowledge and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited EMT Program and one (1) year of experience as a Licensed EMT.
Basic Cardiac Life Support
Emergency Medical Technician
Valid Florida Driver's License Class E

Departmental Requirements

Certifications in: First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, or Medical Assistant.

Desired Qualifications

Ability to work flexible schedule when needed be available to perform job during the weekend and early evening.
Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering knowledge.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operations Management experience.
Valid Florida Driver's License CDL - Class B Preferred.
