Bookkeeper - Foxfire Village, NC

Job Summary

The Village of Foxfire NC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of best bookkeeping practices, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

The Village has a population of approximately 1,450 and a 2023/2024 budget of 1.6 million.

Qualified candidates should have strong customer service skills, proficient computer skills, and solid bookkeeping experience.  Municipal experience is a plus. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Village Administrator and is evaluated through observation, review of records and reports, and conferences.

This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $30,000 - $35,000 based on experience, plus generous health insurance, vacation, and pension benefits. There is ample opportunity for growth in this position. 

Job Duties

• Perform primary bookkeeping functions for the Village of Foxfire.
• Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
• Process general ledger entries
• Responsible for all daily financial transactions and bank deposits; assist Village CPA with reconciliation of bank statements
• Manage Water Department billing including monthly bill send-out, daily processing and posting of utility payments and reviewing past-due accounts
• Assist residents with questions and concerns.
• Review and manage delinquent property tax accounts.
• Work with the Village Council Finance Officer to prepare the yearly budget and budget message.
• Assist the CPA, Auditor, and Finance Officer as needed in the review and update of the year-end financial report.
• Prepare budget ordinance amendments.
• Other duties as required.
