Goochland Powhatan Community Services is seeking a Full time RN to provide supervision and management to the psychiatric medical unit and coordinate care for children and adults with mental illness, substance use disorders and emotional disturbance.  The unit consists of 2 LPNs (who order medications, dispense medications, maintain inventory of medications/medical supplies, observe clients for tardive dyskinesia and other side effects from psychotropic medications, schedule medical appointments) and 2-3 prescribers operating both in the clinic and via telehealth. 

This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the psychiatric medical unit ensuring efficient, effective, quality services are delivered to clients.  This includes seeing clients living with serious mental illness/serious emotional disturbance both in their community settings and in the GPCS clinic. 

A variety of education, consultation, and collaboration with clients, their families, and outside providers related to all aspects of disease management is a responsibility of this position. This position will provide consultation and education services regarding health issues and medications both out in the community and through in clinic appointments.  In addition, this position will be responsible for drafting policy and procedure, responding to serious incident reports, and interpreting data to better serve clients. 

Our agency believes in collaborative, recovery-based service delivery, so the ability to work as a team and communicate effectively across programs is crucial. The supervisor is expected to represent their program and the agency as needed in the community and participate on committees and initiatives that forward agency and system goals.

Qualified applicants must have experience in performing medical procedures such as administering injections, drawing blood, and supervising urine drug screens. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a high comfort level with technology. GPCS uses Credible, a web-based electronic health record. This candidate selected for this position will be expected to review and pull data in Credible and utilize Microsoft Office products daily.
