We are Northern Virginia's largest news organization and we're looking for a Business Development Representative to help power our growth.

Although you must live in Northern Virginia or be planning to relocate here, this opportunity provides unique flexibility to work from home and set your own hours. Some travel is required within the region to meet with clients. Being a self-starter and thinking outside the box will allow you to help clients with their print and digital advertising. Business Development Representatives are compensated by combining a base salary along with uncapped commission and bonus incentives.

Position Overview:

  • Conduct in-person meetings with existing, past, and potential clients in the immediate region. Through detailed probing and excellent listening skills, gather information and create marketing solutions using InsideNoVa products and services
  • Maintain and build a list of prospective clients to pursue, build relationships, notify of updates, new programs and opportunities
  • Learn and share the reasons and benefits of advertising in InsideNoVa products
  • Create, calculate, and present marketing opportunities to clients and prospects
  • Provide accurate and detailed information on client needs to appropriate internal departments to implement program, such as production, billing and graphic design
  • Build strong relationships with clients, peers, and community leaders
  • Attend all required training and sales meetings, company events and networking events in the community
  • With a strong attention to detail, offer final approval on ads prior to publication
  • Meet monthly sales goals
  • Obtain credit information and help collect balances due from customers when necessary.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Office/computer, research, and math
  • Have a ”service” or ”sales” mentality – ability to know how to conduct a Customer Needs Analysis (CNA), follow up with presentation and have proven ”closing” skills
  • Ability to attend required number of face-to-face client meetings and to provide transportation for timely arrival.
  • Curiosity and passion to stay on top of all local competitive media (daily and weekly publications, broadcast, cable, direct mail, out of home ads, digital, etc.)
  • Conduct all interactions in a positive, professional manner
  • B2B or outside sales experience a plus

This position will have primary responsibility to support our products in Prince William and Stafford counties. Representatives can work from home or from our Woodbridge office or a combination of both; however, they must live in Northern Virginia, with preference given to candidates in the Woodbridge, Manassas or Gainesville areas.
