The JMU School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) advances JMU's vision by responding to individual, business, and community needs through transformative educational programs and experiences.
SPCE serves a critical role in widening and deepening JMU's engagement efforts by improving the visibility and accessibility to JMU's intellectual capital. SPCE's Dean, who also serves as JMU's Chief Economic Engagement Officer, and Associate Dean are extensively involved in developing, managing and implementing multiple university-wide economic development engagement initiatives. These efforts often serve as a foundation to several of the university's community engagement, civic engagement, engaged learning, and other initiatives.
This position provides project management and administrative assistance to support the School of Professional & Continuing Education's economic and community development portfolio to help enhance JMU's economic engagement efforts.
• Provide technical and administrative support to SPCE's Associate Dean as well as all Economic and Community Development team members and other SPCE staff including JMU's Chief Economic Engagement Officer and Dean of the School of Professional & Continuing Education. This includes proactive calendar management, room/vehicle registrations, meeting set up and management, taking meeting minutes, catering/supply orders, tracking expenses, and travel preparations. Communicate with a diversified public and staff.
• Manage SPCEs Community Based Graduate Assistantship Program including processing all necessary student employee paperwork and assessment.
• Set up and help manage local and regional economic development meetings as convened by SPCE.
• Draft survey, RSVP, and application forms. Monitor and report on results.
• Actively participate in SPCE economic and community development efforts including researching best practices, communicating with stakeholder groups, and coordinating meetings. Provide research and planning support in the development of project proposals responding to community needs and requests for proposals
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of project management principles and implementation steps.
• Knowledge of program development and implementation.
• Calendar and event management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to resolve problems and make recommendations for improvements to processes.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and to perform complex duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to apply knowledge of specific program operations and technical aspects to make judgements of quality of services provided.
• Knowledge of basic office procedures.
Review of applications will begin 6/21/2022 and the position is open until filled. Pay range: $33,823 - $35,500.
