CAD Technician

We are seeking an entry level CAD Technician to join our sustaining team, supporting product life cycle changes to components and processes.
Do you have an associate degree or equivalent in mechanical design with expertise in SolidWorks?
Would you enjoy being the point person for model and drawing changes to support ongoing operations and product/process improvements?

SUMMARY
Under the direction of engineering and in support of both New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering, develops CAD part models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks. This includes generating and maintaining product documentation in compliance with company guidelines and procedures. This is an hourly position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates and updates detailed drawings working from engineering sketches and layouts. These drawings will include components, tooling, fixtures, marketing materials, transfer of 2D to 3D, and any other items which require a 2-D or 3-D model or drawing.
- Creates and updates manufacturing and testing procedures.
- Submits document or drawing changes through the Document Control process for approval. Makes any updates needed to assist in the release of documents and drawings.
- Works closely with the project teams to develop concepts of both assembly and piece part drawings associated with a project. Assists in the coordination of the transfer of the projects to production. Achieves the project directed milestones and goals.
- Generates and maintains product documentation in compliance with all company guidelines and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: A.S. or equivalent experience.
Experience: Two (2) years minimum experience in a technical drafting environment.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong attention to detail required. Accuracy of drawings is critical.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling & layout drafting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to translate conceptual sketches into meaningful drawings.
- SolidWorks training provided for the right candidate.
