Career Opportunities and Employer Relations

Job Description

Basic Function:

Provides leadership and direction to a comprehensive department comprised of both career services and employer relations functions that serve students, alumni, employers, and campus constituents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the operational, financial, personnel, and program activities of the department
  • Assist students, alumni, and employer constituents, through all stages of the employment process
  • Career Services includes career advising, interview processes, resume referral, job-posting services, career education, and cooperative education, internship, and externship programs
  • Employer Relations includes site visits, event planning, developing sponsorship opportunities and engaging with industry professionals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, and other external constituents
  • Manage large scale events and projects (career fairs, employer events, and COER Advisory Board meetings)
  • Manage staff; simultaneously manage, prioritize and delegate multiple tasks serving a wide range of constituents
  • Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness through management of data collection and reporting
  • Collaborate with the Division of Student Affairs and campus to engage students in experiential learning opportunities that promote career-ready graduates; may serve on committees and project teams
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Direction is received from the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Success

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision is exercised either directly or indirectly over all department staff members. Has accountability for the performance and results of the COER department

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and at least 7 years of professional experience is necessary
  • Outstanding communications skills (oral and written) are required
  • Prior professional experience in career services and/or employer relations is preferred
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $76,300-$95,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
