POSITION SUMMARY 

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) seeks a highly motivated, self-starter to join its team as a Regulatory Specialist.

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is the only national, nonprofit association with a primary focus on information dissemination, professional development, and legislative and regulatory analysis related to federal student aid programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. Our membership consists of more than 29,000 financial aid professionals at nearly 3,000 colleges, universities, and career schools across the country. NASFAA member institutions serve nine out of every 10 undergraduates in the United States.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Answer regulatory questions from members via the AskRegs Knowledgebase.
  • Perform regulatory/editorial review and publication of AskRegs articles as assigned.
  • Manage turnaround times for AskRegs.
  • Review and/or obtain guidance from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) on nuanced aspects of statute and regulation.
  • Provide updates to training materials associated with subject matter expertise as assigned (i.e., application processing, administrative capability, or other as assigned).
  • Develop and present webinars as needed, including developing, writing, and reviewing webinar materials.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Assume responsibility for learning and establishing proficiency with the technology associated with NASFAA products, office procedures, and communication practices.
  • Research current regulatory or administrative issues.
  • Analyze proposed and final federal regulations.
  • Develop and write financial aid materials.
  • Assist in updating NASFAA publications.
  • Assist with NASFAA U subject matter reviews and classes.
  • Attend the NASFAA Conference.
  • Attend ED and other financial aid related training presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Earned bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of recent financial aid experience working in a financial aid office.
  • Recent financial aid office experience beyond the counselor level.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Title IV student financial aid regulations and guidance across the range of Title IV program administration.
  • Familiarity with NASFAA products and services.
  • Excellent critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities at once, especially in a remote/teleworking environment.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
