Job Summary
The National Center for State Courts (NCSC) is an independent, nonprofit court improvement organization located in Williamsburg, Virginia. NCSC's services--research, information services, education, consulting, association management, and technical assistance--are focused on helping courts implement improvements that promote efficiency and effectiveness, while ensuring access to justice, timeliness, and procedural satisfaction.

The Communications Department of the External Affairs Division is seeking an engaged and versatile communications professional who can develop rich and impactful content for its growing online media enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Online Media, the incumbent will work independently to make key content decisions while performing the duties listed below:

Build meaningful relationships throughout the organization and with key stakeholders to distill insights, identify compelling stories and create short- and long-form essays and articles that position the organization as a resource and thought leader in the administration of justice.

Write, edit, and curate error-free content for web, social media, e-mail newsletters and other digital platforms while also thinking creatively about the use of multimedia and graphics to complement or replace the written word.

Develop and implement a balanced and robust web content strategy that includes multiple postings per week and seamlessly integrates with publications, social media and email campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, media relations or a related discipline; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the capacity to perform the work successfully; a J.D. or other legal education helpful;

A minimum of five (5) years' experience in communications or marketing; experience with a court public information office, justice system partner or other stakeholder entity desirable;

Demonstrated ability to develop and edit quality, error-free content with frequency and speed and seamlessly shift between competing priorities, projects, and contexts as needed;

Working knowledge of content management systems, keywords and SEO;

Experience in or working knowledge of editorial planning and project management.;

Full proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite;

Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate in a team; and

Ability to travel periodically.
