Job Summary

The Lead Toddler Teacher will oversee and plan classroom activities, supervise student assistants, provide direct care to the children, collaborate with parents, mentor, and supervise graduate-level practicum students, and consult with faculty to evaluate practicum experiences. To provide direct instructional age-appropriate lessons and direct supervision for children in the Children's Learning and Research Center. The Lead Toddler Teacher will also assist in maintaining licensing standards as required by the Virginia Department of Education and other quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned master's degree in early childhood education or a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and related experience. Must be eligible for PreK3 or PreK6 Virginia Teaching License.
  • Experience and education in classroom supervision with attention to developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Some experience working with children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old. Experience with supervision of student assistants and practicum students.
  • Ability to communicate and relate with parents and work effectively as a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Child Care Licensing Standards.
  • Knowledge of Child Care policies and procedures.
  • Some experience in childcare setting.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must successfully pass criminal and childcare background checks.
  • Fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
  • Must provide documentation of clear TB screening.
  • Must have of obtain CPR/First Aid Certification and MAT training within 30 days of employment.
