Job Summary

The Physician serves as full time for Student Health Services, providing primary health care services for students. Provides medical consultation and supervision of mid-level providers. Covers for Medical Director in their absence, including supervision of clinical supervisor and laboratory supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Required completion of an accredited medical school with successful completion of primary care residency program.
Licensed to practice or eligible for licensure as a physician in the state of Virginia; Board certified in a primary care specialty; Current DEA license; Satisfactory Review by the National Practitioner Databank
  • Knowledge of the role of the primary care physician in an ambulatory care setting, strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal/written skills; ability to interact positively with a diverse student population; ability to interact positively with nurse practitioners/physician assistants, athletic training staff, and counseling staff.
  • Some experience as a primary care physician in an outpatient setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current basic life support CPR certification.
  • Experience in a college health setting, experience with sports medicine and women's health.
