Job Description
To design and develop a variety of user interfaces that facilitate the development of web and mobile applications. Responsible for gathering user requirements, developing interface prototypes and wireframes, creating original graphic designs, identifying and troubleshooting UX problems, and assisting developers in web and mobile app development efforts. This position will work as part of the development team to ensure all designs take account of technical limitations and explore options to ensure products meet the best in class in terms of look & feel, functionality, and behavior.

Working knowledge of wireframe tools; knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Good time-management skills. Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders. Strong front-end development skills utilizing HTML5, CSS/Sass, and JS. Proficient at writing reusable and modular code. Working knowledge of coding, especially client-side interface scripting and libraries. Ability to collaborate with back-end coders and code repositories are required to work with the rest of the development team and to transfer the ODU brand through the interface of a product.

Considerable experience in web design and front-end development, delivering websites, software applications, or products. Some experience with some interface design tools like Invision App, Figma, or Adobe XD. Some experience with mobile-first responsive design and development.
Some experience with major web browsers and cross-browser/cross-device debugging skills.
Some experience in writing dynamic web interfaces. Some work experience as a UI/UX designer or similar role.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Some experience using APIs, and visualizing data, including creating maps, charts, and other interactive functionalities (D3, R, or other). Working knowledge UI / UX best practices. Some experience with Agile, SCRUM. B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, MIS or a related computing-intensive field, or related experience preferred.
Conditions of Employment
40-hour work week Monday-Friday; Some evenings and weekends; Hybrid work options are available.
