Education: A four-year Electrical Engineer degree or equivalent required. A Virginia Professional Engineering License (PE) desired.
Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of utility experience in distribution and/or transmission planning engineering, as well as experience in system modeling, analysis, protection, and coordination, is required. Knowledge in motor start calculations and generator interconnections is preferred.
Job Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable of general distribution and/or transmission engineering in the areas of system coordination, system modeling and analysis, power quality analysis, and Work Plan preparation. Familiarity with spreadsheets, database programs, and engineering programs is required. Must possess basic computer skills, to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint as required by job responsibilities.

Must have good skills in the following areas:
- Writing and verbal communications.
- Computers, both PC and client-server environment.
- Ability to organize and schedule work.
- Create and keep good records.
- See work through to completion both as an individual but also as part of a team.
- Must be able to complete detailed system protection and analysis studies.
- Must be able to learn to use WindMil Distribution System Analysis Software, CYME-TCC Coordination Software, Easy Power Analysis Software, Geographic Information System, and other software as it becomes available and necessary.
- Must be able to learn and perform all other job requirements of the Job Description in a reasonable time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Most work will be done at the Fredericksburg office with some at district offices or in the field under any weather conditions. Occasional travel for training will be required. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In cases of outages or emergencies, work availability maybe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Occasional travel for training will be required.
