Seasonal position assisting a Certified Lake Manager with aquatic plant management and monitoring in upstate NY lakes, primarily in the North Country.  Tasks will include assisting with the application of aquatic herbicides, identifying aquatic plant species, collecting water samples for herbicide analysis and water quality parameters, and completing field reports for submission to the DEC and APA. A natural science degree, coursework or background is preferred. Familiarity with small boats and canoes or kayaks is a must.  Familiarity with Google Earth is also necessary.  Any herbicide applications will be done as a team, but some sampling tasks may require a solo effort, so a high level of responsibility and reliability and attention to detail is important.  A reliable, gas-powered vehicle is also necessary.

The position starts in mid-late May, and will last through July or August, although dates are somewhat flexible.  Work will vary from 4-5 days/week, and some jobs in other areas of NY may require an overnight stay. Compensation averages $800/week.
