Administrative Assistant

The Richmond Institute for Veterans Research (RIVR), a non-profit organization, associated and located within the Richmond Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Richmond Virginia is looking for a strong candidate to assist with administrative tasks for the Institutional Review Board. This position provides administrative support for the Research Service of the Richmond VA Medical Center.  This is NOT a government position. 

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time administrative assistant to provide clerical/administrative support for  the Richmond VA Institutional Review Board in a busy research/medical setting.  The Institutional Review Board provides oversite of for the Richmond VA Medical Center’s human subject research program.  The position is located at the Richmond VA Medical Center at 1201 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond, VA 23249. 

The best person for this position will be organized, detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, able to multi-task and work with individuals with various backgrounds. Incumbent must be proficient with the use of common office computer programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and be knowledgeable or willing to learn how to use software specifically designed for use with the Institutional Review Board (i.e., IRBNet). Incumbent must be able to work Monday through Friday (8a-4:30pm).

Major duties, tasks, and responsibilities of the administrative assistant are:

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.
  • Must be precise, thorough, and reliable and perform daily activities with minimal supervision.
  • Data Entry
  • Receive & conduct preliminary review of projects submitted for board review.
  • Attend weekly IRB Meetings and other meetings as directed.
  • Prepare meeting agendas & minutes.
  • Generate correspondence to investigators based on committee determinations.
  • Provide training and education to research staff.
  • Track training to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare reports and presentations per required guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing for audits.
  • Invoice for board review fees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary range up to $48,000 (based on experience). Experience preferred not required.
