RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST – PART TIME
The Richmond Institute for Veterans Research (RIVR), a non-profit organization, associated and located within the Richmond Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Richmond Virginia is looking for a strong candidate who will be responsible for bone mineral density testing (DXA) and high resolution peripheral computed tomography (HR-pQCT) measurements associated with a clinical research study. S/he will ensure compliance with local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements.
This is NOT a government position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follows protocols of a clinical research study as it relates to compliance with local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements.
- Measures bone mineral density with a research bone densitometer, including whole body, spine, and hip measurements.
- Maintains DXA instrument and performs quality control measures.
- Communicates with research participants, staff, regulatory affairs and data management groups, laboratory and clinical investigators, management, and outside collaborators.
- Uses overhead lift for DXA and other measurements for spinal cord injured subjects.
- Provides analysis of DXA measurements and maintains records.
- Undergoes education on principles and utilization of HR-pQCT.
- Does calibration of HR-pQCT instrument.
- Places subjects in instrument chair with limb immobilization devices
- Performs measurements of HR-pQCT of radius and tibia and quality control.
- Conducts data verification as indicated, documents, assists the investigator and protocol coordinator with questions, may transcribe and resolve queries of data in case report forms (hardcopy or electronic).
- Assists in transport of subjects to MRI area.
- Maintains all required paperwork and competencies.
Non Primary Responsibilities:
- Other duties consistent with the above responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and patient care skills, ability to learn new techniques, understanding of research methods and ethics.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Active valid radiology technologist license.
Minimum Experience: 2-3 years general radiology tech experience. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care strongly preferred. Clinical research experience preferred.
Physical Capabilities: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to carry light items – up to 25 lbs. Must be able to use transfer device and place subjects properly.
Work Environment: Office and clinical environment.
Salary range up to $45 per hour (based on experience). Experience preferred. Will be 1 to 2 days per week. Training will be provided on DXA and HR-pQCT.
