Job Summary

This position's purpose is to, under general supervision, independently support and supervise the use of, and training of personnel in the use of the High-Performance Computing lab and other school-owned Linux labs. Responsibilities include providing Linux support to the Henson school specialty labs, addressing the teaching and research needs of Henson faculty, and serving as the technology liaison between the Henson School and Salisbury University IT department for technology needs. This person must act independently, take ownership of the labs, diagnose, resolve, and follow through on complex technical problems. This person is also required to provide budget advice and cost assessment and acquisition initiation for lab equipment replacement and maintenance plan. 

Authority and Accountability

Direct supervisor: Dr. Xiaohong (Sophie) Wang, the Chair of Computer Science Department 

Secondary supervisor: Dr. Mike Scott, the Dean of Henson School 

No one direct report to this position. 

This person does not have budgetary responsibility and authority. 

Required/Minimum Qualifications

B.Sc. in Computer Science and related area, minimum of 3 years in-depth Linux experience and 2 years of experience with user support, user training, and/or programming. Must have thorough knowledge of applicable computer hardware or software. Skills in operating supported computers and peripherals; in configuring computer hardware and software; to analytically design program logic or solve technical problems. Capable of effectively communicating orally and in writing in a timely manner; Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, and faculty and staff members; Able to provide professional guidance and instructions when needed effectively and promptly.?Physical Demands of the position: lift, kneeling, twisting, walking, stooping, reaching, standing, repetitive motion, bending, sitting, crawling and pushing. 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: computer networking and security, high-performance computing, system software, database, software engineering, artificial intelligence. Strong programming skills in C++, Java, and/or Python.? 

This is a full-time exempt position with a full benefits package.  Salary will be comensurate with qualifications and experience.
