Job Description:


Empire State University, Office of Information Technology Services, seeks a Network Engineer (State Title: Lead Programmer-Analyst) at our Saratoga Springs, NY location. This key position will help engineer, configure and support all internal and external university networks, troubleshoot network problems and performance issues, and serve as Tier 2 technical support. The successful candidate will focus on the maintenance of a state-of-the-art network that services the university's network needed at over 20 locations across New York State. This includes providing innovative and sustainable technology digitally connecting all the university stakeholders where variable models of teaching and learning can occur at any time and any place.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing excellence in delivering network technology and support.
  • Supporting the implementation, integration, and operation of physical and virtual classrooms, labs and administrative units.
  • Maintaining in-depth understanding of emerging technologies related to networking.
  • Responding quickly to networking issues including providing off-hour support as needed.

Requirements:


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of five years' applicable experience.
  • Experience with firewalls, routing protocols, switches, VLANs and VPNs, software-defined networking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems within a networking environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years' experience maintaining a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing protocols.
  • Previous experience working within Higher Education.
  • CCNA or CCNP certifications.
  • ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Works efficiently in an independent and team environment.
  • Experience with some of the following solutions:
    • Palo Alto
    • Force10 (Dell)
    • VyOS
    • F5
    • VMware NSX-V/NSX-T
    • Meraki Wirless
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Linux
    • Windows Server
    • Solarwinds Orion

Rank/Salary: SL3/ $65,000-$75,000
