Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead and execute projects and workstreams in partnership with the Vice President of the division. This role is expected to share in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the Division as well as supporting strategic and operational planning for VEDP as a whole.
For more than two decades, VEDP has served as Virginia's state economic development authority. Like the special Commonwealth that it serves, VEDP is regarded as among the best in the country. Responsibilities:
• Provide oversight and leadership of division projects while leading several projects directly
• Identify opportunities to improve Virginia's economic competitiveness, develop potential solutions to address identified gaps or enhance existing strengths, and engage stakeholders to ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the solutions.
• Support or lead full proposal support for transformational projects, benchmark best practices against peer states, and answer specific research questions proposed by VEDP's external stakeholders
• Take a leading role in developing VEDP's operational plan and develop and execute the strategic plan
• Provide personal leadership for team members through employee engagement, mentorship, professional development and timely feedback
Skills:
• Excellent strategic analysis and problem-solving skills
• Excellent computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) development
• Project leadership and management, working with external/internal cross-functional teams
• Management of direct reports with a track record of developing people and building successful teams
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to work under time pressure
Education/Experience:
• At least three to five years of relevant experience in positions of progressive responsibility
• A bachelor's degree in social science (economics, public policy, or political science), mathematics, data analytics, business, or a related field preferred; advanced degree in business (MBA), public policy (MPP), or other relevant fields preferred.
Under Executive Directive #18, effective September 1, 2021, all employees must disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status to designated Human Resources personnel.
