HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a versatile, self-motivated Human Resources Generalist to provide support for a broad range of services and programs including recruitment, benefits, and performance management. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys having diverse responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Support talent acquisition by posting ads, preparing interview packets, scheduling interviews, and checking applicant references
- Assist with employee benefits administration
- Support performance management and assist in creation and maintenance of job descriptions
- Assist in maintenance of HRIS system data including data entry and reports
- Support planning and coordination of employee recognition events
- Plan and execute special projects and new initiatives
- Oversee state and federal reporting requirements
Skills:
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures, as well as state and federal labor laws
- Experience with ADP, Cardinal, VRS Navigator a plus
- Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
- Exhibit sound judgement in making decisions and maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive matters
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, human resources, or related field is preferred
- Working knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia’s employee benefits practices and procedures preferred
- 3-5 years human resources experience
