ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Learning and Development Consultant to design, develop and deliver customized leadership and professional skills training for clients of the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program. This training is delivered by VEDP in partnership with the Virginia Community College System. All program services are provided at no cost to qualified new and expanding companies as an incentive for job creation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver training content designed to meet learning needs of diverse audiences
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and materials
- Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and subject matter experts to develop training materials and resources
- Optimize the learner’s experience to include visual, audio, and interactive elements
- Act as a consultant to deeply understand the client’s culture, organizational objectives and needs
- Analyze gaps using root cause analysis to provide tailored solutions that align with business goals
- Conduct detailed client needs assessment and gain alignment on deliverables
- Mobilize resources, set timelines, and execute client initiatives taking ideas from concept to reality
- Maintain deep knowledge of relevant subject matter areas and industry standards
- Continuously expand expertise through research, networking, and professional development
- Collaborate with colleagues in the design and selection of user-friendly systems that facilitate internal workflows and efficiently track project budgets, assignments, milestones, contacts, and deliverables
- Provide user feedback to improve our internal systems by optimizing usability and reducing program administration
Job Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Authentic desire and love of learning and continuous growth
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and training approaches
- Subject matter expertise in leadership development, interpersonal/professional skills development, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness
- Frequent in-state and regional travel and occasional long-distance travel is required
Experience:
- Extensive experience in instructional design, development, and facilitation
- Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Storyline Articulate, and technical aspects of instructional design
- Experience working within framework of the Virginia Community College System, economic and/or workforce development
- Substantial private-sector experience working and consulting in and/or with large, multinational firm(s)
