Senior Benefits Manager

Location: Tallahasse, FL preferred / Remote

Reports to: Director of Benefits

Department: Human Resources

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:
The Sr. Benefits Manager will be responsible for the management, compliance and accuracy of the benefits and leave administration. Focuses on improving departmental performance by identifying critical opportunities and requirements to achieve current and future business results. Creates departmental frameworks to align individual and team goals with organization objectives and business results. Develops and manages the benefits and leave processes, tools, and metrics to ensure timely and accurate work product to all internal and external customers. Acts as inquiring point and administrator for all benefit and leave programs. Ensures that all programs are in full regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.
  • Identifies benefit options by studying programs, obtaining advice from consultants.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Informs employees of benefit usage by preparing and distributing benefit reports.
  • Maintains benefit records by developing recordkeeping systems; initiating new-hire benefits; recording changes.
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefit providers.
  • Reconciles benefits accounts by approving billing statements.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Oversees and manages the Benefits and Leave support teams.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the benefits and department operational budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in People Operations leading initiatives in Benefits, HRIS, Compliance
  • Expert hands-on knowledge in Benefits with the ability to drive and administer major benefit initiatives is a must (should have experience building these programs from scratch)
  • Excellent understanding of Benefits programs and administration is a must
  • Strong familiarity with HRIS Systems and the integration
  • Experience managing & implementing programs in both large corporate environments & start-up environments is strongly preferred

Requirements:

  • Experience leading large-scale projects, including those with deliverables with high visibility to senior leaders.
  • Excellent analytical and data visualization skills (including advanced skills in Excel).
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening
  • Must be at least 21 years old (State Law)

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
