Job Description Summary:
The ADA Compliance Program is seeking an Accessibility Services & Testing Coordinator to oversee the accommodated student testing experience and assist with intake of new student accommodation requests. This role serves as part of the Office of Academic Accommodations and is an integral part of providing services to students registered with the office. The position reports to the ADA Director and works collaboratively with campus partners to provide students with high quality support and opportunities to excel in their college experience. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position.

Additional Information: Due to the responsibility of proctoring exams, which may be scheduled as early as 7am or run until 7pm, the incumbent will need to be available to work a flexible schedule but will not ordinarily be expected to work beyond a 40-hour workweek.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in any field plus two (2) years full-time, professional experience supporting or managing computerized testing including troubleshooting technical problems and providing desktop support to end users; or an associate's degree in any field plus four (4) years full-time, professional experience supporting or managing computerized testing including troubleshooting technical problems and providing desktop support to end users.

Work Experience:
  • Experience with data collection and data analysis.
  • Work history of prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience following complex procedures, work successfully under pressure, and manage unexpected situations, such as physical or mental health emergencies.
  • Utilize excellent judgment and discretion to address a concern, while maintaining strict confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:
  • Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience in a higher education accommodation services setting.
  • Proficient Microsoft computing skills (Word, Excel).

Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively, ethically, and empathetically with a diverse population of students, faculty/administrators, and/or community partners.


Oversight of the ADA Testing Process (80%)
  • Coordinate the scheduling, communication, delivery, reporting and tracking of accommodated exams for students with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Setup, configure and troubleshoot testing computers and both physical and digital accessibility issues prior to exam to minimize potential for issues during the administering of exams.
  • Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Technologies Testing staff to schedule exams, publish the exam schedule, prepare the exams for online delivery, and facilitate any other exam processes necessary to provide timely testing for ADA students.
  • Arrange testing environment, including adjusting physical spaces, according to individualized accommodations needs of the students.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to obtain and administer exams in the required accessible formats to meet approved accommodations.
  • Serve as the test proctor and/or monitor exam proctoring software/cameras as needed.
  • Ensure exams are received, administered and delivered to and from faculty with integrity and efficiency.
  • Facilitate student inquiries about their testing results, scoring procedures, make-up exam procedures, and other technical aspects of the testing program.
  • Maintain and update files regarding students' exam accommodations history.
  • Provide monthly exam data reports to the ADA Director.


Intake Assistance (20%)
  • Assist the Coordinator for Academic Accommodations in reviewing and interpreting documentation submitted by students and engaging in the interactive process to identify appropriate reasonable accommodations.
  • Create and maintain appropriate confidential student records.
  • Assist new and incoming students in navigating the AIM software accommodation processes during intake sessions.
  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees as assigned.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
