Job Summary

The archives student assistant will assist the oral history archivist with arranging archival documents and transcripts. Duties will include inventorying, organizing, and sorting analog and digital oral history records; evaluating oral history transcripts for rehousing, printing, and preservation; entering information into a database; and assisting in additional archival organization.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Attention to detail, legible printing, and filing skills. The student assistant should have the ability to follow department procedures and policies and to work without close supervision. It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule. Must have respect for the intrinsic value of archival materials.

Preferred Education/Experience

Basic computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Photoshop, scanning software and hardware, as well as an understanding of database management.
