Job Description

The MU Research Reactor is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Electrical Engineer, where you will be an integral part of a dynamic team tasked with evaluating Research Reactor electrical systems, products, components, and applications. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional ready to make a lasting impact while advancing their career.

Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include

Engage in electrical and program design for developing equipment, employing both existing and innovative procedures to create cutting-edge solutions.

Create layout and mounting diagrams, edit technological requirement documents for electrical installations, and issue purchasing lists for electrical elements.

Provide guidance to electricians during control system installation and electrical system testing to ensure compliance with requirements.

Conduct software programming and debugging based on electrical principles.

Analyze, collect, and upload electrical design and program design data while updating files regularly.

Research and explore new technologies and products, driving their application to enhance processes.

Develop standards for electric and program operations, crafting operation instructions and promoting usage standards.

Ensure compliance with MURR regulations and customer requirements in all installations and operations.

You will work under general supervision, using established procedures and innovative thinking to address tasks. Your ability to solve problems and exercise independent judgment will be crucial. Your recommendations for work procedures, policies, and practices will contribute to ongoing improvements.

This role has a substantial impact on multiple teams at the Research Reactor. You will collaborate extensively with internal teams and external vendors, as well as engage with members of campus facilities
Maintain legacy software to ensure reliable and consistent operation.

Develop familiarity with MURR systems and procedures.

Review electrical prints submitted by external entities to verify compliance with MURR systems and procedures. Create work packages to internally guide work.

Interact with research and production teams to address electronic, electric, electromechanical, and software issues with both existing and planned equipment.

Plan, execute, and document work effort using established work procedures.

Interact with electronics technicians and work control group to ensure work tasks remain on target on and on time.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM, with occasional weekends and evenings

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
  • Licensure may be required
Preferred Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor of Science or greater degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution,
Have a minimum of 3 years of on-job experience,
Be familiar with National codes and standards, such as the National Electric Code, IEEE standards, NEMA standards, ANS standards, etc.,
Demonstrated ability to communicate and document work effectively.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $90,000 per year
