Job Description

KOMU 8 News is looking for a new team member! KOMU 8 News is looking to add aTV News Anchorto its team of veteran on-air talent.Our anchors are not only the face of our local news broadcasts, but they are also involved in coverage planning, storytelling, and community outreach.Our anchorsreport, shoot, and edit their own stories.They are also involved in coaching, mentoring, and sometimes teaching of students from the renowned Missouri School of Journalism. News Anchors at KOMU 8 are expected to be engaged in the local community.We are looking for someone who has a strong social media presence and a willingness to engage with others through social media.Candidates should have experience using video editing software, such as Adobe Premier, and Content Management Systems, such asInception.The ideal candidate has both reporting and anchoring experience.Investigative storytelling skills would be a big bonus.If you are looking to join a newsroom with veteran supervisors and hungry, young journalists we want to talk to you!

KOMU 8 is a full-powered NBC and CW affiliate proudly owned by the University of Missouri serving the Columbia-Jefferson City, MO market.

It is the only network affiliated television station with a dual mission of informing the public and serving as the premier training ground for television journalists with the prestigious Missouri School of Journalism.

KOMU 8 is an award-winning, nationally recognized news organization working to share impactful and important stories on all platforms.

The station also supports community interests through various public service efforts throughout the year.

Shift

Various including regular nights and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experiencewith news anchoring and reporting

Experience with Investigative Storytelling

Strong social media presence and engagement

Ability to personally shoot and edit stories

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $40,000- - $60,000 annually

Grade: MKT
