Community Engaged Research Coordinator



This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multidisciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.

LRDC is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Community Engaged Research Coordinator.

The research projects focus on creating technology educational programs alongside community organizations serving minoritized populations in Pittsburgh. The Community Engaged Research Coordinator will support the interaction between researchers and the community, as well as support administrative research processes. Responsibilities include:
- understanding the needs of community partners and advocating for them to the research team
- communicate research findings to community
- organizing and staffing events with community partners, communicating research findings to community partners
- IRB and data management.

Qualifications include strong communication and organizational skills, and who has prior experience working in community organizations. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to make independent decisions to move projects forward and work collaboratively with others.

Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor degree in a STEM, project management, or psychology related field strongly preferred; at least two years of relevant work experience. Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement.


Job Summary

Develops and executes complex, comprehensive community engagement plans. Plans logistics for community events and maintains a continual presence. Collaborates to develop engagement workflow integration strategies and community event calendars. Provides training and mentoring and tracks the impact of engagement efforts. Engages in fundraising, creates informational and marketing materials, and assists in maintaining a database.


Essential Functions

Essential functions of this position are to manage projects, and coordinate meetings and interactions with research team and community partners.


Physical Effort

Position is primarily sedentary; significant amount of sitting/standing at desk, but will require some cross-campus and community travel, heavy computer use, and must be able to communicate clearly orally and in writing. Should be able to lift, carry and transport less than 20 lbs.
