Research Histology Technician IV



This position involves performing all forms of routine histology on animal and human tissues of all types as well as adapting/modifying current techniques and developing new techniques to meet each researcher’s needs. The incumbent will need to learn emerging techniques and contribute to maintaining the facility as state-of-art, including complex methods. Techniques include (but are not limited to) histochemical, immunohistochemical, and molecular. In addition, this position involves the creation of paraffin tissue microarrays (TMA), a method of visualizing multiple cases and tissue types using one paraffin block. Troubleshooting of complex immunohistochemistry and other special staining techniques is required.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and experiments. Analyzes and interprets data, compiles results, and prepares reports. Maintains inventory, ordering, and logs. Writes manuscripts and grant proposals and prepares data visualizations.


Essential Functions

Sitting and standing for long periods at the bench. Reading same print font and writing on vials and tubes. Bending to put away supplies.Carrying up to 50 pounds. Walking between buildings and sites.
