Senior Systems Analyst



The Office of the University Registrar is an office focused on providing the highest levels of student, faculty, and staff service and maintaining the highest level of academic records integrity and security. The department is currently seeking a qualified Senior Systems Analyst.

This is a high-level analytical position responsible for coordinating and assisting in the development and implementation of functional solutions to higher education issues and initiatives. The Senior Systems Analyst will participate in the analysis, evaluation, and design of complex higher education information systems with the primary responsibilities of problem resolution and optimizing existing functionality with University systems. The Senior Systems Analyst will assist in leveraging technology to ensure operational efficiency, improve business processes, streamline workflows, and make recommendations to better utilize University systems to support area functions.


Job Summary

Works with business groups to solve more complex problems using technology. Analyzes advanced business needs and evaluates complex business processes to recommend process enhancements. Assists in helping junior and more senior business analysts with complex projects.


Essential Functions

The Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for the development of queries and reports using software and tools to extract, store and analyze data from a data warehouse environment to support and enhance business processes, planning, and decision-making.

The incumbent will coordinate and assist in the development and implementation of functional solutions University issues and initiatives. Participate in the analysis, evaluation, and design of complex higher education information systems, including problem resolution and investigation of enhancements within University systems. Act as a liaison between University system user population, central IT, and third-party vendor user populations with issue identification and problem resolution.

The incumbent will provide solutions to highly complex data requests by using query and report development tools in a data warehouse environment. Effectively work through requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and monitoring stages of the development life cycle. Assist colleagues with query and report development when necessary.

The incumbent will serve as a contributing member on both internal and external information systems project teams tasked with system issue analysis, issue solution development, system enhancement, and implementation of new system functionality projects.

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
