University Staff Recruiter

Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Exempt Role

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) Human Resources office is seeking a Staff Recruiter to join our Recruitment Team. The UTK Human Resources Office provides services to faculty, staff, student and temporary employees. Accountabilities

Recruitment Services
  • Recruits, screens and refers qualified candidates to hiring departments for further consideration
  • Partners with departments to provide guidance on the hiring process including explanation of recruitment-related policies and procedures, posting positions, candidate screening, interviewing strategies
  • Counsels employees affected by reduction in force
  • Communicates with candidates concerning specific vacancies, job qualifications, resume assistance, salary concerns and benefits information
  • Extends job offers to new hires, processes new hire paperwork and coordinates on-boarding
Community partnerships
  • Participates in community events such as career fairs, workshops, and assisted placement services
  • Develops and facilitates training programs

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant working experience OR Associates degree and three (3) years of relevant working experience OR five (5) years of relevant working experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience
  • Experience recruiting in a higher education environment
  • PHR, SPHR or other related certification
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of employment related federal & state law and EEOC regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and MS Office skills
  • Ability to source and cultivate candidates from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to be flexible/objective in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of IRIS (SAP) and Taleo (Oracle)
