Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Marketing and Digital Initiatives Fellow plays an important role in increasing the visibility of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, its collections, exhibitions, and other programs. The Fellow's work will help expand our audiences and drive attendance by leading the Loeb's digital engagement tactics and contributing to overall marketing efforts. The position may entail other marketing and communications initiatives and partnering on special projects with campus and community partners. This is a two-year position with possible extension for an additional year, reporting directly to the Deputy Director and Curator, with a target start date in September of 2024.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage the Loeb's e-newsletter and social media channels, including copyediting and content (photography and video) development, scheduling, publication, reporting, and optimization.
  • Develop strategy for the Loeb's social media channels, email communications, and website that best generates engagement with the Museum and drives attendance. Ability to make proactive recommendations based on available data.
  • Collaborate with Vassar Communications Office to ensure quality control of marketing materials in print and digital form consistent with the Loeb's voice and identity and Vassar's style guides.
  • Maintain a network of relationships and ongoing outreach to multi-modal regional and national organizations to promote Loeb exhibitions, events, and programs.
  • Contribute to and utilize the online events calendar and content development and regular updates of the Loeb's website.
  • Conceptualize new avenues for reaching audiences based on current digital media trends and initiatives, including those being implemented by the College and peer institutions.
  • Track and report on social media, email, and website analytics, offering data-driven recommendations for improvements and adjustments.
  • Ensure all marketing communications are in keeping with best accessibility practices.
  • Assist with other marketing and communications initiatives as needed, such as advertising and media buys, including paid social media.


Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Art or Art History or related field.
  • Experience using social media platforms (such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn) and email services such as Mail Chimp.
  • Proficiency with content management platforms (Drupal, Wordpress, etc.) and proficiency or ability to become proficient with web analytics tools and reporting.
  • Comfortable with a variety of software that enables the use of graphic design, and video and image editing.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • An investment in the ability to work with diverse groups of people and nurture equitable, inclusive, and accessible experiences for all audiences and users.
  • Ability to work independently or in a group environment or in a shared workspace while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.



Preferred
  • 1-2 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Passion for art, museums, education, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Familiarity with cultural institutions and higher education environments.
  • Ability to train, supervise, and mentor an undergraduate student assistant.
