This is a Cabinet-level, bargaining unit-exempt position / Application deadline is May 27, 2024
Duties:
Reports to the Superintendent of Schools;
- Supervises Special Projects, Transportation, Registration, Security, and Family and Community Engagement services;
- Establishes and oversees effective departmental operations;
- Delegates oversight to department management as appropriate; defines, implements and revises departmental operational policies and guidelines;
- Manages overall departmental budgets;
- Attends Board meetings;
- Oversees all departmental performance initiatives and customer service;
- Works with the Human Resources Department to hire, mentor, evaluate and provide corrective action for departmental employees;
- Communicates routinely and effectively to staff;
- Oversees appropriate acquisition and implementation of technology products and services;
- Establishes, implements and oversees district-wide safety and security programs;
- Evaluates departmental performance for productivity and efficiency;
- Oversees departmental procurement and resource allocation;
- Participates in collective bargaining;
- Assures high quality staff performance through established procedures for training, development and evaluation;
- Prepares and delivers presentations to the Board of Education as requested;
- Recommends means of improvement and enhancement of departmental services;
- Designs and conducts research projects aligned with district initiatives as relevant and as requested by the Superintendent;
- Works under the direction of the Superintendent as an information liaison between the school district and various advisory, business, and community organizations;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Requirements: Requirements
Certification as a N. J. School Administrator or eligibility for such. Public school employment
experience. Strong computer literacy. Demonstrated problem solving and communication
skills. Experience managing a large staff within a collective bargaining environment.
