Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The Department of Neurology is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Chief Purpose of this position: The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time clinical faculty member with training in Neuropsychology to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises. Successful candidates will have a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology/neuropsychology and will be BC/BE in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. Successful candidates will also have completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology. Academic appointment will be commensurate with experience.

Position Responsibilities:
Clinical
Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in outpatient settings.

Teaching
The faculty member will teach medical students, neurology residents, and neurology fellows.

Research
The Division of Child Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.

Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology/neurpsychology
  • BC/BE in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology
  • Completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
